The vehicle chassis is a part that is subjected to the greatest loads due to the way the vehicle is driven. This is particularly evident when the body weight is transferred during fast cornering, heavy braking or acceleration.
When cornering, weight transfer can cause one side of the vehicle to be subjected to forces up to three times greater than the other. This can result in significant chassis flex as well as twisting and deformation of the body, causing the tyres to lose grip.
Chassis deformation and twisting during cornering can cause undesirable handling characteristics such as understeer and oversteer.
The Ultra Racing front lower brace helps reduce unwanted chassis deformation. It has 4 mounting points and is intended for the Ford Escort Mk II with a 1.6 engine, 2WD and a manual gearbox.
