A car’s chassis is the part exposed to the greatest loads while driving. These loads are mainly caused by the transfer of the body’s weight during fast cornering, heavy braking or hard acceleration.
When cornering, weight transfer can cause one side of the vehicle to be loaded up to three times more than the other. This can cause significant chassis flex or body deformation, resulting in a loss of tyre grip.
Chassis deformation and flex during cornering can cause undesirable handling characteristics such as understeer and oversteer. The front lower chassis brace helps increase the rigidity of this part of the body.
