The car’s chassis is the part subjected to the greatest loads during dynamic driving. Particularly high loads occur due to the transfer of the body’s weight during fast cornering, heavy braking and acceleration.
When cornering, weight transfer can cause one side of the vehicle to be subjected to loads up to three times greater than the other. This can lead to significant chassis flex, or deformation and torsion of the body, causing the tyres to lose grip.
Chassis deformation and flexing during cornering can cause unwanted handling characteristics such as understeer and oversteer. The front lower chassis brace helps provide additional connection and reinforcement in this area.
