The vehicle’s chassis is the part subjected to the greatest loads during driving. This is particularly noticeable due to the transfer of the body’s mass during fast cornering, heavy braking or intense acceleration.
When cornering, mass transfer can cause one side of the vehicle to be loaded up to three times more than the other. This results in significant deformation and twisting of the chassis or bodywork, which can cause the tyres to lose grip.
Deformation and twisting of the chassis during cornering can cause undesirable handling characteristics such as understeer and oversteer. The front lower chassis brace helps further connect the mounting points and increase the stiffness of this part of the bodywork.
