A car’s chassis is subjected to significant loads while driving, particularly due to the transfer of the body’s weight during fast cornering, heavy braking and acceleration.
When cornering, weight transfer can cause one side of the vehicle to be loaded up to three times more than the other. This causes the chassis or bodywork to twist and deform, which can result in the tyres losing grip.
Chassis flex when driving through corners can cause undesirable handling characteristics such as understeer and oversteer. The front lower brace helps increase the stiffness of this part of the bodywork.
