A car’s chassis is the part that is subjected to the greatest loads during driving. This is particularly pronounced due to the transfer of body mass during fast cornering, heavy braking or sudden acceleration.
When driving through a corner, the transfer of mass to one side of the vehicle can create forces up to three times greater than on the other side. This causes considerable chassis flex or body deformation, which can result in the tyres losing grip.
Chassis deformation and flexing when driving through a corner can cause undesirable handling characteristics, such as understeer and oversteer.
This front lower chassis brace helps increase body stiffness in the mounting area.
