The vehicle chassis is exposed to considerable loads while driving, particularly due to the transfer of the body mass during fast cornering, heavy braking or acceleration.
When cornering, the load on one side of the vehicle can increase to as much as three times that on the other side. This causes the chassis to bend and twist, or the bodywork to deform, which can cause the tyres to lose grip.
Chassis deformation and twisting while cornering can cause undesirable handling characteristics such as understeer and oversteer. The front lower chassis brace helps increase the rigidity of this area of the bodywork.
