The vehicle chassis is the part subjected to the greatest loads during driving. This is particularly noticeable due to the transfer of body weight during fast cornering, heavy braking and acceleration.
When weight is transferred through a corner, one side of the vehicle can be subjected to forces up to three times greater than the other. This causes significant deformation and twisting of the chassis or body, resulting in a loss of tyre grip.
Deformation and twisting of the chassis in corners can cause undesirable handling characteristics such as understeer and oversteer.
