The car’s chassis is the part subjected to the greatest loads while driving. This is particularly evident due to the transfer of the body’s weight during fast cornering, heavy braking or acceleration.
When cornering, weight transfer can cause one side of the vehicle to be loaded up to three times more than the other. This results in significant loads, bending and twisting of the chassis or body, which can cause the tyres to lose grip.
Bending and twisting of the chassis during cornering can cause undesirable handling characteristics such as understeer and oversteer. The front lower chassis brace helps increase the stiffness of this part of the body.
