The vehicle’s chassis is exposed to the greatest loads while driving, particularly due to the transfer of body mass during fast cornering, heavy braking and acceleration.
When cornering, weight transfer can cause one side of the vehicle to be loaded up to 3 times more than the other. This causes significant chassis twisting and body deformation, which can result in the tyres losing grip.
Chassis deformation and twisting while cornering can cause undesirable driving characteristics such as understeer and oversteer.
