The vehicle body is among the parts subjected to the greatest loads during driving. This is particularly evident due to the transfer of body weight during fast cornering, heavy braking or hard acceleration.
In some cases, weight transfer during cornering can cause one side of the vehicle to be loaded up to three times more than the other. This results in significant deformation and twisting of the body, causing the tyres to lose grip.
Deformation and twisting of the chassis during cornering can cause undesirable handling characteristics such as understeer and oversteer.
