The chassis is the part of the vehicle subjected to the greatest loads during fast driving. Significant loads occur mainly due to the transfer of the body’s weight during fast cornering, heavy braking or sudden acceleration.
When cornering, weight transfer can cause one side of the vehicle to be loaded up to three times more than the other. This causes significant chassis flex, or deformation and torsional twisting of the body, which can cause the tyres to lose grip.
Chassis deformation and flex during cornering can cause undesirable handling characteristics such as understeer and oversteer. This interior body brace is designed to reduce such movement.
