The vehicle body is the part subjected to the greatest stress during spirited driving. Stress is caused primarily by the transfer of body weight during fast cornering, hard braking and decisive acceleration.
When cornering, weight transfer can cause one side of the vehicle to be subjected to a force up to three times greater than the other. This causes significant twisting and bending of the body, which can result in the tyres losing grip.
Body twisting while driving through corners can cause undesirable handling characteristics such as understeer and oversteer. The interior body brace helps limit such deformation and improves vehicle stiffness.
