The vehicle body is the part that is subjected to the greatest loads while driving. This is particularly apparent when the body’s mass is transferred during fast cornering, heavy braking or hard acceleration.

When cornering, mass transfer can cause one side of the vehicle to be loaded up to 3 times more than the other. This causes significant deformation and twisting of the body, resulting in the tyres losing grip.

Deformation and twisting of the body while cornering can cause unwanted handling characteristics, such as understeer and oversteer.
