The chassis is the part of the vehicle subjected to the greatest loads during dynamic driving. This is particularly evident when the vehicle’s body mass is transferred during fast cornering, heavy braking or hard acceleration.
When cornering, weight transfer can cause one side of the vehicle to be loaded up to three times more than the other. This results in greater twisting and deformation of the body, causing the tyres to lose grip.
Chassis twisting and deformation during cornering can cause undesirable handling characteristics such as understeer and oversteer. The interior chassis brace helps limit these movements and improves vehicle stiffness.
