The car chassis is the part subjected to the greatest loads during dynamic driving. This is particularly evident due to the transfer of body mass during fast cornering, heavy braking or intensive acceleration.
In certain cases, weight transfer when cornering can cause one side of the vehicle to be loaded up to three times more than the other. This results in significant chassis flex and deformation and twisting of the body, causing the tyres to lose grip.
Chassis deformation and twisting when cornering can cause undesirable driving characteristics, such as understeer and oversteer.
