The vehicle’s body is subjected to heavy loads during fast cornering, hard braking and acceleration, mainly due to the transfer of the vehicle’s mass.
When driving through corners, the load on one side of the vehicle can be up to three times greater than on the other side. This causes the body to bend and twist torsionally, which can result in the tyres losing grip.
Body flex during cornering can also cause undesirable handling characteristics such as understeer and oversteer.
