The vehicle’s chassis or bodywork is subjected to heavy loads during fast driving, particularly due to weight transfer during fast cornering, heavy braking or acceleration.
In some cases, weight transfer in a corner can cause one side of the vehicle to be loaded up to three times more heavily than the other. This causes pronounced twisting and deformation of the chassis or bodywork, causing the tyres to lose grip.
Chassis deformation and twisting while driving through a corner can cause unwanted handling characteristics such as understeer and oversteer.
