The vehicle chassis is the part that is subjected to the greatest loads during dynamic driving. This is particularly evident due to the transfer of body weight during fast cornering, heavy braking or sudden acceleration.
When driving through a corner, the transfer of weight can cause forces on one side of the vehicle to be up to three times greater than on the other side. This causes significant deformation and twisting of the chassis or body, resulting in the tyres losing grip.
Deformation and twisting of the chassis during cornering can cause unwanted driving characteristics, such as understeer and oversteer.
