The car’s chassis is the part of the vehicle subjected to the greatest loads during dynamic driving. This is particularly noticeable due to the transfer of body weight during fast cornering, hard braking or sudden acceleration.
In some cases, weight transfer when cornering can cause one side of the vehicle to be subjected to up to three times more force than the other. This results in greater deformation and flexing of the chassis or bodywork, causing the tyres to lose grip.
Chassis deformation and flexing during cornering can cause undesirable handling characteristics such as understeer and oversteer.
