The car’s chassis is the part subjected to the greatest loads during driving. This is especially noticeable due to the transfer of body weight during fast cornering, heavy braking or acceleration.
In some cases, weight transfer during cornering can cause one side of the vehicle to be subjected to up to three times more force than the other. This can result in significant chassis twisting or body deformation, causing the tyres to lose grip.
Chassis deformation and twisting during cornering can cause poorer handling characteristics, such as understeer and oversteer.
