A vehicle’s chassis is the part exposed to the greatest loads while driving. This is particularly evident when the body’s weight is transferred during fast cornering, heavy braking or hard acceleration.
In certain situations, weight transfer in a corner can cause one side of the vehicle to be subjected to up to three times more force than the other. This can result in significant chassis flex, as well as deformation and twisting of the body, causing the tyres to lose grip.
Deformation and twisting of the chassis while cornering can cause unwanted handling characteristics such as understeer and oversteer. The mid lower brace helps increase chassis rigidity in the mounting area.
