The car body is subjected to the greatest loads when driving quickly through corners, braking hard and accelerating, as the vehicle’s weight is transferred between individual parts of the body.
When cornering, weight transfer can cause one side of the vehicle to be loaded up to three times more than the other. This results in high loads, bending and twisting of the chassis, which can cause the tyres to lose grip.
Bending and twisting of the chassis when cornering can cause undesirable driving characteristics such as understeer and oversteer. The rear lower brace helps increase the stiffness of this part of the body.
