The vehicle chassis is the part subjected to the most stress during driving. This is particularly evident when the vehicle’s body weight is transferred during fast cornering, heavy braking or sharp acceleration.
In some cases, weight transfer during cornering can cause one side of the vehicle to be loaded up to three times more than the other. This leads to significant deformation and twisting of the chassis or body, causing the tyres to lose grip.
Deformation and twisting of the chassis during cornering can cause undesirable handling characteristics such as understeer and oversteer.
