The vehicle’s chassis is exposed to significant loads while driving, particularly due to the transfer of the body’s mass during fast cornering, heavy braking and acceleration.
When cornering, the transfer of mass to one side of the vehicle can result in up to three times more force being placed on one side than the other. This causes the chassis or bodywork to twist and flex, which can result in the tyres losing grip.
Chassis flex while driving through corners can cause undesirable handling characteristics such as understeer and oversteer. The rear lower brace helps increase the rigidity of the lower section of the body.
