The car’s chassis is the part subjected to the greatest loads while driving. This is especially evident from the transfer of body weight during fast cornering, heavy braking or acceleration.
In some cases, weight transfer during cornering can cause one side of the vehicle to be subjected to up to three times more force than the other. This causes pronounced twisting and bending of the chassis or body, resulting in a loss of tyre grip.
Chassis deformation and twisting during cornering can cause unwanted handling characteristics such as understeer and oversteer.
