The vehicle chassis is the part subjected to the greatest loads during driving. This is particularly evident when chassis loads are transferred during fast cornering, heavy braking or hard acceleration.
In some cases, transferring loads while cornering can cause one side of the vehicle to be loaded up to three times more than the other. This causes significant deformation and twisting of the chassis or body, resulting in a loss of tyre grip.
Chassis deformation and twisting while cornering can cause undesirable handling characteristics such as understeer and oversteer.
