The vehicle chassis is subjected to high loads while driving, particularly due to the transfer of body weight during fast cornering, heavy braking or acceleration.
When cornering, weight transfer can cause one side of the vehicle to be loaded up to 3 times more than the other. This can result in significant deformation and twisting of the chassis or bodywork, causing the tyres to lose grip.
Chassis deformation and twisting during cornering can cause undesirable handling characteristics, such as understeer and oversteer.
