The vehicle chassis is exposed to significant loads during fast driving. These loads are mainly caused by the transfer of the vehicle’s body mass during fast cornering, heavy braking or acceleration.
When cornering, weight transfer can cause one side of the vehicle to be subjected to up to three times more force than the other. This can result in pronounced chassis twisting or body deformation, causing the tyres to lose grip.
Chassis deformation and twisting while driving through corners can cause undesirable handling characteristics such as understeer and oversteer.
