The vehicle chassis is the part subjected to the greatest loads during dynamic driving. High loads occur mainly due to the transfer of body mass during fast cornering, heavy braking or acceleration.
When cornering, mass transfer can cause one side of the vehicle to be loaded with as much as three times more force than the other. This can cause significant chassis flex or body deformation, resulting in a loss of tyre grip.
Chassis flex and deformation during cornering can cause undesirable handling characteristics such as understeer and oversteer. The rear lower brace helps reduce unwanted chassis deformation and contributes to more stable and predictable vehicle behaviour.
