The vehicle chassis is the part subjected to the greatest loads during dynamic driving. This is particularly pronounced due to the transfer of body weight during fast cornering, heavy braking or acceleration.
When cornering, weight transfer can cause one side of the vehicle to be subjected to up to three times more force than the other. This can result in considerable chassis flex, body deformation and loss of tyre grip.
Chassis deformation and flex during cornering can cause unwanted handling characteristics such as understeer and oversteer. The rear lower chassis brace helps increase the stiffness of the rear section of the body.
The design is intended for the Subaru Impreza WRX (GC8), model years 1992–2000, with a 2.0T engine, four-wheel drive and Version 4 specification.
