The vehicle chassis is the part subjected to the greatest loads while driving. This is particularly evident during body weight transfer when cornering quickly, braking hard or accelerating intensely.
In certain cases, weight transfer while cornering can cause one side of the vehicle to be loaded up to 3 times more than the other. This can result in significant deformation and twisting of the chassis or bodywork, causing the tyres to lose grip.
Chassis deformation and twisting while cornering can cause undesirable handling characteristics, such as understeer and oversteer.
