Normally, oil and water vapours are routed into the intake manifold, where, after entering the combustion chamber, they are ignited together with the fuel-air mixture and expelled through the exhaust system. Due to the direct-injection system used in TSI models, the cylinder heads and valves are no longer washed with fuel. This means that the fuel previously used for cleaning is no longer available, as it is injected directly into the combustion chamber.

As a result, exhaust gas recirculation combined with oil and water vapours from the crankcase ventilation causes substantial deposits to build up. These deposits collect in the cylinder-head chambers and on the valves. They make the material surface rough and reduce the cross-sectional area of the air passages, preventing optimum air turbulence and cylinder filling.

When the deposits are still minor, performance is initially reduced noticeably and an uneven idle develops. Emissions deteriorate and fuel consumption increases. At an advanced stage, the deposits can interfere with the valve train to such an extent that the valves no longer close fully. This results in a lack of compression in the affected cylinders and causes misfires. The deposits can also cause the valves to break off and, in the worst case, damage the engine.

The HF-Series oil catch can kit solves this problem. During engine operation, the catch tank system does not route oil vapours into the intake system. Instead, they are directed into the catch tank, where they are collected. This reduces deposits on the valves, contributing to smoother engine operation and the best possible restoration of the original performance. Installing the system also results in cleaner combustion.

Despite diverting oil and water vapours into the catch can, the emission values and the Euronorm emissions standard remain compliant.

Road use: This product is not permitted for use on public roads and is intended exclusively for motorsport use.

Note: The kit is not suitable for OPF models.
