The car’s chassis is the part subjected to the greatest loads while driving. This is especially true when transferring the body weight during fast cornering, heavy braking or hard acceleration.
When weight is transferred in a corner, one side of the vehicle can be subjected to loads up to 3 times greater than the other. This causes considerable chassis twisting and body deformation, which can cause the tyres to lose grip.
Chassis twisting and deformation when driving through corners can cause undesirable handling characteristics, such as understeer and oversteer. The chassis brace helps reduce unwanted body movement and improve the rigidity of the structure.
