The car’s chassis is subjected to high loads while driving, particularly due to the transfer of body weight during fast cornering, heavy braking or sudden acceleration.
When cornering, the transfer of weight to one side of the vehicle can cause forces up to three times greater than on the other side. This causes significant deformation and twisting of the body, which can result in the tyres losing grip.
Chassis deformation and twisting during cornering can cause undesirable driving characteristics such as understeer and oversteer.
