The vehicle chassis is the part that is subjected to the greatest loads during driving. This is particularly true when the vehicle’s weight is transferred during fast cornering, heavy braking or acceleration.
When cornering, weight transfer can cause one side of the vehicle to be subjected to a force up to 3 times greater than the other. This results in significant deformation and twisting of the chassis or bodywork, causing the tyres to lose grip.
Deformation and twisting of the chassis when cornering can cause undesirable handling characteristics such as understeer and oversteer. The front lower brace helps to further stiffen the lower section of the chassis and reduce its twisting.
