The vehicle chassis is subjected to significant loads during fast driving, particularly due to the transfer of body weight during fast cornering, heavy braking or acceleration.
In certain situations, weight transfer in a corner can cause one side of the vehicle to be loaded up to 3 times more than the other. This can cause significant chassis flex as well as deformation and twisting of the body, resulting in a loss of tyre grip.
Chassis deformation and twisting when driving through corners can cause undesirable handling characteristics such as understeer and oversteer.
