A car’s chassis is the part exposed to the greatest loads while driving. This is especially pronounced due to the transfer of the body’s weight during fast cornering, heavy braking or intense acceleration.
When cornering, weight transfer can cause one side of the vehicle to be loaded up to three times more than the other. This results in significant deformation and twisting of the chassis or bodywork, which can cause the tyres to lose grip.
Chassis deformation and twisting during cornering can cause undesirable handling characteristics such as understeer and oversteer. The brace helps reduce unwanted twisting of the front section of the chassis.
