The vehicle chassis is the part subjected to the greatest loads during driving. This is particularly evident when transferring body loads during fast cornering, heavy braking or acceleration.
When cornering, load transfer can cause one side of the vehicle to be subjected to up to three times more load than the other. This results in significant bending and twisting of the chassis or body, which can cause the tyres to lose grip.
Chassis flexing and twisting during cornering can cause undesirable handling characteristics such as understeer and oversteer. The front lower chassis brace is designed to increase the rigidity of this part of the body.
