The vehicle chassis is the part most exposed to loads while driving. This is particularly noticeable due to the transfer of body mass during fast cornering, hard braking or acceleration.
When cornering, weight transfer can cause one side of the vehicle to be loaded up to three times more than the other. This can result in significant chassis flex or body deformation, causing the tyres to lose grip.
Chassis deformation and flexing during cornering can cause undesirable handling characteristics, such as understeer and oversteer.
