The car’s chassis is the part subjected to the greatest stress during driving. This is particularly noticeable when the body’s weight is transferred during fast cornering, heavy braking and acceleration.
When cornering, weight transfer can cause one side of the vehicle to be subjected to forces up to three times greater than the other. This results in greater chassis flex, deformation and body twisting, causing the tyres to lose grip.
Chassis deformation and twisting during cornering can cause undesirable handling characteristics such as understeer and oversteer. The Ultra Racing front torsion bar is designed to provide additional chassis reinforcement for Mitsubishi Lancer Evo CT9A vehicles.
