The vehicle chassis is the part subjected to the greatest loads while driving. This is mainly caused by the transfer of the body’s weight during fast cornering, heavy braking or acceleration.
When cornering, weight transfer can cause one side of the vehicle to be subjected to a force up to three times greater than the other. This leads to significant twisting and deformation of the chassis or bodywork, which can cause the tyres to lose grip.
Chassis deformation and twisting during cornering can cause undesirable handling characteristics, such as understeer and oversteer.
The brace is designed to reduce these effects and increase chassis rigidity.
