The car’s chassis is heavily loaded while driving, particularly due to the transfer of body mass during fast cornering, heavy braking or acceleration.
When cornering, weight transfer can cause one side of the vehicle to be subjected to up to three times more force than the other. This can lead to significant twisting and bending of the chassis or bodywork, consequently resulting in a loss of tyre grip.
Chassis twisting and deformation during cornering can cause undesirable driving characteristics such as understeer and oversteer.
