The vehicle chassis is the part subjected to the greatest loads during dynamic driving. This is particularly evident due to the transfer of body weight during fast cornering, heavy braking or intense acceleration.
In certain situations, weight transfer through a corner can cause one side of the vehicle to be subjected to loads up to 3 times greater than the other. This causes significant bending, deformation and twisting of the chassis, resulting in the tyres losing grip.
Chassis deformation and twisting in corners can cause undesirable handling characteristics, such as understeer and oversteer.
