The car’s chassis is exposed to significant loads while driving, particularly due to the transfer of the body’s mass during fast cornering, heavy braking and acceleration.
When cornering, the load on one side of the vehicle can be up to three times greater than on the other. This causes the chassis or bodywork to twist and flex, which can result in the tyres losing grip.
Chassis twisting and deformation when cornering can cause undesirable handling characteristics, such as understeer and oversteer. The brace helps increase the rigidity of the rear section of the chassis and contributes to more consistent vehicle behaviour.
