The vehicle chassis is the part subjected to the greatest loads during dynamic driving. This is particularly evident due to the transfer of body weight during fast cornering, heavy braking or sudden acceleration.

When cornering, weight transfer can cause one side of the vehicle to be subjected to up to three times more force than the other. The result is significant deformation and twisting of the chassis or bodywork, which can cause the tyres to lose grip.

Deformation and twisting of the chassis during cornering can cause undesirable handling characteristics such as understeer and oversteer.
