When driving at speed, the vehicle’s chassis is subjected to significant loads, mainly due to the transfer of the body mass during fast cornering, heavy braking and acceleration.
When driving through a corner, the load on one side of the vehicle can be up to three times greater than on the other side. This causes the chassis to twist and bend, or the bodywork to deform, resulting in the tyres losing grip.
Chassis twisting during cornering can cause undesirable handling characteristics such as understeer and oversteer. The rear lower chassis brace helps increase body stiffness in the mounting area.
