The rear lower chassis brace connects the mounting points on the suspension and helps limit body bending and flexing. During fast cornering, hard braking and acceleration, the chassis is subjected to loads caused by the transfer of the vehicle’s mass.
When mass is transferred in a corner, one side of the vehicle can be subjected to up to three times more load than the other. This causes greater chassis flex or body deformation, which can result in the tyres losing grip.
Chassis flex and deformation when driving through corners can cause undesirable handling characteristics such as understeer and oversteer. The brace helps reduce these effects.
