The vehicle chassis is one of the most heavily loaded parts, as it is affected by the transfer of the body’s mass during fast cornering, hard braking and acceleration.
When driving through a corner, the load on one side of the vehicle can be up to three times greater than on the other side. This causes significant chassis flex or body deformation, which can cause the tyres to lose grip.
Chassis flex when driving through corners can cause undesirable handling characteristics, such as understeer and oversteer.
