In some cases, the transfer of mass during cornering can cause one side of the vehicle to be subjected to a force up to 3 times greater than the other. This results in significant bending and twisting of the chassis or body, causing the tyres to lose grip.
Bending and twisting of the chassis during cornering can cause undesirable driving characteristics, such as understeer and oversteer.
